HAND-CRAFTED PIECES THAT WILL INDULGE YOUR SENSES

A Stone’s Throw Pottery is a bit of a word play on my last name which means little rock and, of course, throwing on a potter’s wheel.

I live in Houghton, NY and if you’ve heard of it at all, you know it’s not a stone’s throw from anywhere. I attended college there as an art major concentrating in ceramics. The following years my family lived in West Africa where my husband and I were missionaries in Nigeria and Senegal. I didn’t focus on pottery at that time but was able to keep my hand in it a bit and explore what was available locally.

After being stationed in the States I wanted to work toward making a proper dinnerware set since my family had mismatched yard sale dishes and my old cast offs. My cupboard is now full of my own work but I have more ideas for pottery that I want to make that hopefully others will enjoy
